Lula Galvão is one of the most respected Brazilian musicians around the world. His unique approach to both acoustic and electric guitars as well as the beauty of his arrangements made him to be known as one of the greatest guitar players of all times.
Born in a family of musicians, Lula has initiated his professional activities beside Brazilian singer and composer Rosa Passos, to whom he has contributed as a partner, arranger, producer and performer in many concerts and albums such as Rosa Passos & Lula Galvão which paid tribute to Ary Barroso. Galvão has also recorded and performed live with some of the most important Brazilian and International artists such as Caetano Veloso, Ivan Lins, Chico Buarque, Edu Lobo, Jacques Morelenbaum, Guinga, Nana Caymmi, Wagner Tiso, Frank Gambale, Paquito D’Rivera, Kenny Barron, Ron Carter, with whom he has recorded the widely praised album “Among Friends”, and many others.
His impressive curriculum accounts many of the main concert venues and Jazz Festivals around the globe. Most recently Lula has released his first solo album named Bossa da Minha Terra (Bossa From My Land) which featured Claudio Roditi, Mauricio Einhorn, Rosa Passos and Raul de Souza. At the moment Lula is dedicating his time and talent to his own trio, the Lula Galvão Trio which features Jorge Helder on the bass and Rafael Barata on the drums. The Trio is in studio and their first album is expected to be released on the first quarter of 2015.
Besides the trio, Lula is still focused on Rosa Passos’ new tour (on her most recent album produced by him), on the tours with Cello Samba Trio (featuring Jacques Morelenbaum) and to his duo with his brother, the Brazilian saxophonist and composer Sérgio Galvão.
Lula is doubtlessly a privileged artist that deserves all the recognition he’s being receiving during all these years.
