Fernando Vidal is a powerful guitar player, with a sense of rhythm and groove that few musicians have. Graduated in the G.I.T (Guitar Institute of Technology, Los Angeles) his influences are as broad and eclectic as his own work, passing by names like Jimi Hendrix and Scott Henderson.
Since the 1980’s Fernando Vidal is one of the most-in-demand guitar players in Brazil. In these 30 years he has already performed live and in studio with great Brazilian artists such as Ed Motta, Gilberto Gil, Lenine, Marina Lima, Fernanda Abreu, Lulu Santos and Herbert Vianna, in important Festivals such as Montreaux Jazz Festival and Rock in Rio, among many other venues and festivals around the globe.
As a composer and solo artist, Vidal is releasing his 3rd album until the first quarter of 2015 and shares compositions with artists as Zelia Duncan, Fernanda Abreu and Marina Lima.
At the moment Vidal is touring with Seu Jorge and performing in many Brazilian venues and Festivals with his trio, the Fernando Vidal Trio.
If one single word could define Vidal’s work this word would be versatility. Fluent in Jazz, Vidal also explores the Hendrix world and his project Fernando Vidal in Hendrix, played by the same Trio, has been widely accepted by Brazilian public and critics.
“…few guitar players in Brazil have the authority that Fernando Vidal has when the subject is Jimi Hendrix.”
“Fernando Vidal is the Hendrix Ambassador in Brazil!.”
