Influenced by the magic of Jazz, the power of Rock n’ Roll, the modernity of the electronic music, and above all the ancestral touch of the Afrobeat, the AfroJazz is a band formed by young musicians who, while researching the origin of the rhythms and sounds, discovered the strong link between Africa and Brazil.
The inspiration in African rhythms, Brazilian music and American Jazz phrasing brought this young and energized group to craft compositions and unusual arrangements to standards from Brazilian and International artists.
AfroJazz concert is marked by a lot of groove, afrobeat, reggae, rock, and of course, improvisation. This mixture brings to the audience a delightful sensory experience and promotes a free to dance environment.
The group has been performing live in many Festivals around their home country such as the Leblon Jazz Festival, Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues Festival, Everything is Jazz, Golearte in Circo Voador, Viradão Cultural and has recently participated in the Cotai Jazz & Blues Festival in China.
The good sequence of concerts and festivals contributed to building the personality of the group and to consolidate the arrangements, taking AfroJazz to the next step: their first album. The tracks are already recorded and the influences are as broad as obvious: Fela Kuti, Miles Davis, Mulatu Astatke, Hermeto Pascoal, Freddie Hubbard, Moacyr Santos, among others. The album is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2015.
The meteoric trajectory of this group and the soul-liberating experience which is their shows makes AfroJazz appears as one of the main revelations of Brazilian modern music.
